What are common crypto scams I should be aware of?

Some common scams include:

  • Fake airdrops promising free tokens if you connect your wallet.
  • Impersonators pretending to be admins or support staff.
  • Pump-and-dump tokens that suddenly lose all value.
  • Rug pulls — projects where the creators drain the liquidity pool and disappear, leaving the token effectively worthless.
  • Honeypot tokens — tokens that let you swap in but restrict or fully block your ability to swap out.
  • Fake tokens — copies of legitimate tokens with the same name and ticker, deployed at a different contract address to trick users.
  • Malicious smart contracts that drain your wallet after you approve them.

The strongest defense is skepticism — if an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
